The sex abuse lawyers at Ostroff Injury Law are investigating new information that the Solebury School near New Hope, Pennsylvania has been hiding a decades-long string of sexual offenses between students and faculty.

A Bucks County grand jury has reported disturbing sexual relations that date back as early as the 1950s at Solebury School. Six former students told the grand jury how the school enabled the sexual activity with faculty both on and off campus. Tragically, the sexual contact was never reported or investigated until recently, when the head of the school learned of the decades of abuse and encouraged students to come forward.

Changes in PA Law Could Extend Statute of Limitations for Sex Abuse Victims

Victims are likely concerned that because the sexual offenses took place decades ago, the deadline to take legal action has passed.

In Pennsylvania, adult victims of sexual abuse currently have two years to file a civil lawsuit and twelve years to file criminal charges. Minor victims have until their 30th birthday to file a civil claim and until their 50th birthday to file criminal charges.

However, new bills in the House and Senate would give victims more time to seek justice by increasing the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse to 32 years or until the age of 50. Those changes in Pennsylvania law could allow Solebury School alumni to still file a claim – even those who were victimized decades ago.
